Medical
directory scores a first
By Manveet Kaur
THE Malaysian healthcare sectors –
both public and private – continue
to grow in leaps and bounds. That is
why a directory such as the
Malaysian Medical and Health
Directory (MMHD) will prove to be a
useful reference to medical
professionals, members of the public
as well as to companies doing
business with the healthcare sector.
The first of its kind, the objective
of the MMHD is to identify all key
players in the health industry,
compile up-to-date contact
information, and provide informative
profile of select sectors of the
health industry.
While key healthcare providers such
as hospitals, clinics and
laboratories figure prominently in
the directory, other key players in
the healthcare sector have not been
neglected. These include NGOs,
medical academic and research
institutions, regulatory and health
authorities as well as
pharmaceutical and medical device
companies.
The MMHD actually started as an
offshoot of surveys and other
clinical registry and database
projects conducted by the Clinical
Research Center (CRC) in Hospital
Kuala Lumpur.
In the course of collecting data for
these surveys, a wide network of
contacts in the health sector was
established. Based on this
information, the accumulated contact
information was published in the
form of the MMHD as a public service
as well as in acknowledgment of the
many individuals and organisations
listed in the directory who
supported and contributed data to
the surveys.
The MMHD comes in a printed hardcopy
version available in all leading
local bookshops. The online version
of the MMHD is regularly updated and
can be accessed through
http://www.mmhd.com.my.
Listing in the MMHD is free of
charge and without obligation.
